Frederieke Saeijs
from Pietro (II) Guarneri

A special concert on November 25 at 8:15 p.m. at the Waalse Kerk: violinist Frederieke Saeijs will perform works by violinist and composer Eugene Ysaÿe, among others, on a violin built by Petrus Guarnerius in Venice in 1725. The concert is particularly special because the violin, made available by the Musical Instrument Fund, once belonged to Queen Elisabeth of Belgium. Elisabeth was not only deeply interested in the arts; she was also a talented amateur violinist who took lessons from the court Kapellmeister, the violinist and composer Ysaÿe.
Frederieke was inspired, in part by the history of the instrument—which bears Queen Elisabeth’s name—to record these six solo sonatas for violin by Ysaÿe. The CD will be available starting in early November.
At the Walloon Church, Frederieke will perform several solo sonatas by Ysaÿe, as well as César Franck’s sonata, together with pianist Nino Gvetadze.
The €15 ticket price includes the new Ysaÿe CD (autographed, no less)! Reservations can be made through the Het Muziekinstrumentenfonds website.
