The Musical Instrument Fund
is organizing
a Concert Marathon
Celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the Musical Instrument Fund have begun. One of the highlights of the anniversary year is the special concert marathon on April 19, 20, and 21: the NMF Musical Instrument Fund Weekend. The Music Instrument Fund is organizing this event in collaboration with the Hendrick de Keyser Association. It features no fewer than 100 concerts, 100 musicians, and 100 stunning locations owned by Hendrick de Keyser. Throughout the Netherlands, the music of Chopin, Beethoven, and Bach will fill the air for an entire weekend, performed by enthusiastic and talented musicians—ranging from young talents to international stars—on instruments from the Musical Instrument Fund.
One hundred concerts from Appingedam to Maastricht, and from Middelburg to Schoorl. Come experience the atmosphere! Among the musicians performing are the talented violinist Frederieke Saeijs and renowned cellist Ernst Reijseger. The young violinist Svenja Staats (16) from Utrecht will kick off the weekend on Friday, April 19, with a concert at the historic Hodshon Huis in Haarlem. Visit the website of Het Muziekinstrumentenfonds for the program, dates, and tickets.
Director Marcel Schopman (The Musical Instrument Fund): “We wanted to do something special, and we’re now putting on a unique event. It’s unique because never before has a concert marathon like this—featuring 100 concerts throughout the Netherlands—been organized. It’s unique because of the collaboration between two organizations dedicated to preserving cultural heritage. And it’s unique because the doors of beautiful historic homes—which are normally closed to the public—will now be open for an entire weekend. It’s been wonderful to see that so many of our musicians immediately signed up for this with great enthusiasm.”
Director Carlo Huijts (Hendrick de Keyser Association): “The idea appealed to us right away. It’s a very enjoyable way to let the public appreciate our unique homes. Fortunately, many of our tenants felt the same way and spontaneously joined in to make this ambitious plan a reality. And the collaboration between the Musical Instrument Fund and Hendrick de Keyser is more natural than it might seem at first glance; after all, we both face the remarkable challenge of ensuring that our historic properties are best preserved by putting them to use.”
