"connection with
beauty"
All we’re hearing from the battlefields is bad news. What we can offer in response through our “Keep Playing” campaign is small, but it means the world to those involved. We can once again report on a few noteworthy matches, including a clarinet for Amir!
A Clarinet for Amir
In February, we put out a call for a clarinet with a French key system for Amir from Iran. We spent some time looking for a clarinet that would meet his expectations. Since he is a seasoned professional, his standards are quite high. Thanks to the appeal on the website, we were able to connect with a Dutch colleague, and Amir is now playing an excellent instrument on loan. He is currently the principal clarinetist of a music association and will certainly be expanding his activities. We are extremely grateful to everyone for sharing the call for help!
Musical Sisters
Nisa is from Ankara, Turkey, where she played in a theater orchestra and as a freelancer in various ensembles. She now lives in a shelter in Balk with her sister and parents and wants to continue her career here. Her violin and bow were of insufficient quality. Thanks to the loan of a beautiful Bohemian violin, she can once again fully realize her ambitions. She certainly doesn’t lack a strong work ethic: She is now a permanent member of De Nije Symfonie, the Fries Chamber Orchestra, and the Heerenveen String Guild.
Her sister Ecrin (17) also has big plans—but with a flute she received as a gift. She doesn't have much experience with it yet, but her first lessons went very well.

Love and joy for the listeners
Artem is 35 years old, comes from Kharkiv, and now lives with a warm and musical host family in East Brabant. He worked as a sound engineer and has played in various bands since he was 18. With the gift of a good guitar, he can once again devote himself fully to playing the guitar, and his ambitions in this regard are no small matter: “to have better contact with beauty and to spread love and joy to the listeners”. He stays in touch with the donor, and they plan to play together.
The KHSC Music Association in Kerkdriel rehearses in a hall adjacent to a site where Ukrainian refugees are being housed. From the connections that naturally developed there, the question arose as to whether there might be prospective members among the refugees. And there were: Hlib (age 10) chose the trumpet, Irina (54) chose the saxophone, and a family (father Andrii, mother Vanda, son Daniëlo) chose the clarinet—two of whom are now part of our group. They are receiving lessons from professional instructors. The instruments (one on loan, the rest donations) were found to be in good working order after a service check and came with all the necessary accessories (cases, reeds, carrying straps, stands, method books, etc.). A successful example of integration that benefits everyone!
