NSO 2023 on Tour

The Dutch Student Orchestra is a national project orchestra consisting of 85 young, passionate students. Every year in February, the student orchestra gives concerts throughout the Netherlands. During this tour, the Musical Instrument Fund lends instruments to a number of musicians. This year, the NSO’s project is centered around the theme “Inspire.” Inspiration can be found in moments of love, but also in serious events. Composers Anton Bruckner and Edward Elgar used music to process their grief. The Netherlands Student Orchestra will therefore perform Bruckner’s Seventh Symphony under the baton of Maestro Jurjen Hempel, and Ella van Poucke will perform the solo part in Elgar’s Cello Concerto. In addition, Christiaan Richter has written a composition especially for the NSO! The NSO hopes to inspire and connect with its audience through music.
