Hawijch Elders
from Gennaro Gagliano

Live from our office—and while maintaining a safe distance—you’ll hear the sounds of top musicians and their unique instruments. The instruments from the Musical Instrument Fund and their players are eager to share their music now that concerts are on hold for the time being. Tune in and enjoy the music, the story behind the instrument, and the musicians.
During the COVID-19 crisis in the spring of 2020, it was virtually impossible for many people to enjoy music outside their homes. That’s why the Musical Instrument Fund launched a series of concerts that were streamed live so that donors and other interested parties could still listen to live music. In this series of videos, you can watch these livestreamed concerts and enjoy a selection of talented musicians all over again.
The young talent Hawijch Elders is currently studying in the Excellence Program at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and began playing the violin at the age of six. Among other achievements, she has performed with the Residentie Orkest during her participation in the Oskar Back Dutch Violin Competition and received the Kersjes Violin Scholarship in 2019. Hawijch plays a violin built by Gennaro Gagliano (Naples, ca. 1745), on loan from the foundation.
