Hidden
Gems

This year marks the 5th anniversary of the Janine Jansen International Chamber Music Festival. New to the festival are seven concerts by young musicians in various Ridder and Regenten halls in downtown Utrecht. This series is titled “Hidden Gems.” The name refers not only to the unique venues—which are usually not open to the public—but also to the musicians borrowing instruments from the Musical Instrument Fund, all of whom are young and promising, and some of whom are not yet known—or are not well known—to the general public.

Among the performing musicians are violinists Peter Brunt and Frederieke Saeijs, clarinetist Céleste Zewald, the Van Dingstee Quartet, and the Rodin Piano Trio. The unique venues include the Fundatie van Renswoude, the St. Eloyen Gasthuis, the Duitse Huis, the Evert Zoudenbalch Huis, the Mart van Schijndel residence, the Bartholomeus Gasthuis, and the Paushuize. All of these are located in the center of Utrecht.

Through this collaboration, the Chamber Music Festival and the Musical Instrument Fund are offering the public concerts featuring young musicians at unique venues in Utrecht. The series thus aligns seamlessly with the Musical Instrument Fund’s goal of showing and letting the public hear what it does through special concerts.

This year, the Musical Instrument Fund is organizing more than 50 concerts featuring young musicians at unique venues. See our concert calendar for more information.
