Happy faces:
new instruments
for refugees

The “Keep Playing” campaign—providing musical instruments to refugees—is steadily moving forward. Although we’d like to reach even more musicians and music students, we’ve still been able to make a number of matches in recent months, and as a result, we’ve once again brought joy to refugees by giving them beautiful instruments!

Instruments Looking for a Musician: Mission Accomplished

Bahar (16) had to flee Turkey with her family and is now staying at a shelter in Almere. In addition to the language classes that the whole family is eagerly taking, playing the keyboard offers her relaxation and an outlet for the stressful time the family has been through.

Timothy from Ukraine (12) is staying in Slochteren. His saxophone lessons were abruptly interrupted by the war, but fortunately he can now resume them. His teacher managed to get in touch with the Musical Instrument Fund, and a match was quickly made!

Refia (19), from Turkey, got in touch as soon as she found stable housing in Leidschendam. She missed her own violin and was absolutely delighted with the violin that donor Corine brought her personally. Corine not only provided a high-quality, play-ready violin, but also arranged for a Turkish violin teacher who is willing to give Refia free lessons for the coming year!

Ali (34), an Iranian guitar teacher originally from Kyiv (on the left in the photo), is staying at a shelter in Oude Pekela. Thanks to the donation of a good guitar, he was able to return to his old trade and taught Oleg (60, from Kharkiv) a very decent rendition of “Hotel California.”

More about “Keep Playing”

Of course, we would like to express our gratitude to our exceptionally generous donors, but also to the many (semi-)public-sector employees and volunteers who assist the refugees. They are often the ones who put the refugees in touch with the Musical Instrument Fund.

Do you know a refugee in your area who is looking for a musical instrument? If they are seriously interested and have stable housing, please contact the Musical Instrument Fund. There are still quite a few instruments waiting to make someone happy!
