Krijn Koetsveld
from Klop

A historic day at a historic location. After nearly two years of hard work, the Musical Instrument Fund officially inaugurated the Monteverdi organ on Sunday, January 19, at the Franciscus Xaverius Church in Amersfoort. A packed church witnessed a concert in which the new addition to the Musical Instrument Fund’s collection was showcased in all its glory.
Adorned with a red bow, the Monteverdi organ was ceremoniously presented to its first organist and the project’s initiator, Krijn Koetsveld. Krijn is a conductor, organist, and leader of the ensemble Le Nuove Musiche (Altricanti Foundation), which organized this inaugural concert. With the idea of creating an organ from Monteverdi’s time, Krijn approached the Musical Instrument Fund. The organ was subsequently built on commission from the fund by the Klop company in Garderen.
The Monteverdi organ is now poised to play a role in Dutch musical life. In addition to Krijn Koetsveld and his ensemble Le Nuove Musiche, other musicians and ensembles have already expressed interest in using the organ. Combined with the enormous attention and publicity surrounding this project, this demonstrates the artistic value of this instrument for authentic performance practice in the Netherlands. And who knows, perhaps even beyond its borders...
