We deeply sympathize with the cultural sector—and with our musicians in particular—and find it inspiring to see the innovative initiatives the sector is organizing. The Musical Instrument Fund is also doing everything it can to support our musicians. Through the Support Fund, we can help musicians continue to play their top-quality instruments. Your support in this effort is indispensable.

Financial Problems Among Musicians

Everyone knows that a large portion of our target audience has run into financial difficulties as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. When will our musicians be able to perform again and earn a living? These are uncertain times that are causing a great deal of concern among our musicians.

Financial Assistance for Musicians

Of course, we want to help them as much as possible. That is why we have waived 25% of the loan fee for 2021. This fee covers a portion of the collection costs and insurance premium. For many musicians, this waiver was a drop in the bucket. Many are therefore expected to apply again this year to our Support Fund, a fund that provides financial assistance toward the loan fee if a musician truly can no longer afford to pay. To receive this assistance, the musician must submit a simple application to the fund.

Thank you very much!

The Musical Instrument Fund is a 100% privately funded foundation. We do not receive any government subsidies, and we have only two steady sources of income:

  1. income from recurring donations, whereby the donation is guaranteed for at least 5 years through an agreement. This allows us to know what to expect in terms of income for the coming years.

  2. revenue from the loan fee paid by our musicians. All musicians who have an instrument on loan pay a contribution toward the collection’s costs. This currently amounts to €550 per year for students and €710 for professional musicians (this does not include the insurance premium, which depends on the value of the instrument).
