Change in the
Instrument Committee
With the departure of two valued members of the Instruments Committee this year—Giselle Bergman and Peter Stotijn—we began searching for new candidates. Today, two new members joined the committee, which reviews applications from musicians and provides advice on collection policy: Ying Lai Green and Marjolein Dispa.
Saying Goodbye and Welcoming Back
For many years, Gisella Bergman (viola teacher) and Peter Stotijn (double bass teacher) have devoted themselves tirelessly and selflessly to the Musical Instrument Fund. Their dedication went far beyond attending committee meetings and evaluating the countless applications from musicians. They were always ready to lend a helping hand with the fund’s instrument acquisition processes, sound tests, and concerts. Their tremendous dedication, personal commitment, and expertise have greatly enriched our organization.
A warm welcome to two new members of the Instruments Committee:
Ying Lai Green was born in Cambridge (UK) and studied double bass at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester and at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She continued her studies in Germany and received her first position with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then, she has worked with various symphony and chamber orchestras around the world. She also gives recitals throughout Europe and is a much-sought-after chamber musician. She is currently principal double bassist with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and principal bassist with Amsterdam Sinfonietta. She teaches at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
Marjolein Dispa studied viola with Ervin Schiffer in Tilburg and Amsterdam and earned her degree cum laude from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. She then studied chamber music with the Amadeus Quartet at the Cologne University of Music. She performs internationally as a chamber musician and soloist. For several years, she was the principal violist of the Swedish chamber orchestra Camerata Roman, and she is currently a member of Combattimento and the Jenufa String Quartet. She is a professor of viola and chamber music at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
