A new
musical phenomenon:
gratitude
Top musicians from the Netherlands have taken advantage of this quiet period to let their creative minds run wild. Commissioned by the Musical Instrument Fund, no fewer than 45 musicians have collaborated on a new musical phenomenon: the Gratitude. Based on the Prélude, the Gratitude showcases what gratitude sounds like. The musicians, who all play a top-tier instrument from our collection, were asked to interpret the concept of “gratitude” in their own unique ways.
Gratitudes
In their “Gratitude,” the musicians express their appreciation. This may be gratitude for the support of their loyal fans, but it can also be for more personal matters. For example, pianist Nadav Katan is grateful for his beloved family, and Frederieke Saeijs is grateful for the fact that she can “paint” with her centuries-old Italian violin and precious bow. This has led to dozens of “musical gems.” The musicians perform existing pieces or have composed their own.
Weekly online
Well-known names such as violinist Noa Wildschut, harpist Remy van Kesteren, pianist Matteo Myderwyk, violinist Daniel Rowland, and cellist Mascha van Nieuwkerk, among others, have contributed to this project. New "Gratitudes" will be added weekly and can be found at this page.
Radio and TV commercial
The Gratitude project will run at least through the end of this year and will be promoted on both radio and TV. A special TV commercial will air during the week of June 27 through July 3. Starting this fall, the foundation plans to perform the “Gratitudes” live as well.
