Jeroen Klemann

event production

My name is Jeroen Klemann (1960), and I've been deeply involved with classical music since I was eight years old. At eight, I attended the Bavo Koorschool in Haarlem, where I received intensive music lessons and choral singing. When I got older, I studied economics and became an entrepreneur in the temporary employment sector. But music never let go of me; I've always sung in choirs of all sizes, completed the Schumann program, and the Kurt Thomas choir conducting program.

‘music has never
let go of me’

In 2004, my friend Peter Mookhoek and I started a chamber music venue in Haarlemmermeer. The series is called CruquiusConcerten. This is how I came into contact with the Netherlands Musical Instrument Foundation, as many of the foundation’s musicians have performed on this venue. I'm now involved as a volunteer in organizing the foundation’s concerts.

My favourite instrument

My favourite instrument is the cello, because of its beautiful, sonorous sound. One of my favorite cellists is Lidy Blijdorp, that’s why I’m choosing the Farotti, ‘ex-Anner Bijlsma’.
