I started working for the foundation in 2009 in the "denktank," then cleared out the archives in the attic, and since then I've helped out several times with the Open Monumenten Dag, which were very popular. It was a lot of fun, using large photos to tell the beautiful building's history. The photo of the trees growing out of the roof always elicited exclamations of horror.
‘i have given my business cardto many strangers!’
I have done all sorts of other jobs: finding out which musician from the foundation plays in which orchestra, sorting donated sheet music, helping at the Nederlandse Viooldagen, hosting the (Presentation) concerts, arranging concerts at schools, and... telling lots of strangers about the Netherlands Musical Instrument Foundation and giving them their business cards!
My favourite instrument
If I had to choose a favourite instrument, it would be the Monteverdi-organ. As the daughter of an organist whom I had the privilege of helping with registration and turning pages during concerts, my ears immediately perk up at the word ‘organ’. I consider this Monteverdi-organ a fantastic project and initiative by The Netherlands Musical Instrument Foundation!
