Ben Cartens
The only profession I ever studied was playing the flute, and it has given me so much: playing, teaching, and judging at home and abroad, organizing concerts and festivals, meeting interesting and fun people, and making valuable contacts at all levels.
‘I have a love of music and the needto share that love with others’
I was the director of Muziekscholen en Centra voor de Kunsten (including those in Roosendaal and Arnhem) and a member of advisory committees and boards. As an independent contractor, I advise on artistic direction, organization, and fundraising. All of this is driven by one central principle: a love of music and the need to share that love with others.
But it all started with that flute, and that's why it had to be in my photo.
When I'm not doing anything music-related, I'm cooking (deliciously), playing chess (pretty badly), or reading (a lot).
