Edgars Karpenskis-Allažs

Hi! My name is Edgars and I'm a Latvian bassoonist currently studying and residing in The Hague. 

As a performer I strive for authenticity and honesty in my playing and I am always looking for ways to innovate, whether it means discovering new repertoire or new forms of presenting classical music to the audience!

I'm born on 2000 and come from Riga, Latvia and started to play bassoon at the age of 9 with my first teacher Andris Arnicāns. In 2020 studied with Audun Halvorsen and Sebastian Stevensson in The Royal Danish Academy of Music and in 2025 I graduated from the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag where I studied with Bram van Sambeek. Currently I am a student at Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Lola Descours,.

Musically I've always been interested in lesser-known composers and more uncommon musical formations. I believe there is a lot of great, undiscovered music out there in the world and I've put in on myself to discover and present it to others, one musical piece at a time.
