Hello, my name is Ramon Alejandro I was born in 1997. I am from Cuba and I started my master program on Classical Bassoon at the Royal Conservatory in Den Haag on 2024 with Bram Van Sambeek. Currently I’m am the bassoon player of Aires Tropicales Quintet.

I am writing to introduce myself as a passionate and dedicated Cuban bassoonist with extensive experience in teaching and performance. My musical journey has allowed me to engage with a range of styles and settings, from solo performances to orchestral and chamber music, and I have had the privilege of performing at international festivals and competitions.

Currently, I am doing my first year Master in Classical Bassoon at the Royal Conservatoire of Den Haag with Bram van Sambeek. I had serve as the Principal Bassoonist with the Symphony Orchestra of Las Tunas, where I have played under the direction of esteemed conductors such as Guido Lopez Gavilan and Ulrich Nyffeler from 2018 to 2024. In addition, I have performed with the Havana Lyceum Orchestra, contributing as a second bassoonist under the baton of Jose Antonio Mendez and others during the 2023-2024 season. My recent engagement with the Early Music Ensemble Exsulten has further enriched my experience, allowing me to collaborate with masters like Alberto Sanna. Recently I have performed as second bassoonist two times with Residentie Orkest (November/2024- January/2025) under the baton of Leslie Suganandarahaj and Jun Märkl.

Since 2024, I am a member of the Aires Tropicales Quintet, a wind quintet that uniquely blends classical, folk, and jazz elements, showcasing a diverse range of performance styles.

My participation in prestigious festivals and competitions has been a highlight of my career. Notably, I was awarded First Prize at the Charleston Romantic Music Competition in 2022 and was a semifinalist at the Canners Music Competition in Vienna. Additionally, I performed with the Cuban European Orchestra at the La Grande Gare Festival in Germany in 2023 under the baton of Thomas Hengelbrock.

Thanks to the support of the Musical Instrument Foundation I am able now to develop and improve my career and my playing, and I think this Organization has helped me a lot in my journey as a musician in this country.
