Marie Duquesnoy

Marie Duquesnoy is a member of the firt violin section of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra since 2024. After joining the Academies of the Orchestre de Paris and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, she developed her musical voice within the symphonic repertoire, performing with ensembles such as the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Orchestre « Consuelo ».

From early on, she cultivated a strong connection to collective music-making and artistic responsibility, notably serving as Konzertmeister with the Orchestre Français des Jeunes. These experiences continue to shape her approach to orchestral playing, attentive to shared sound, group energy and the subtle dialogue within the ensemble.

Alongside her orchestral career, chamber music lies at the core of her artistic identity. In 2024, she co-founded the Esh Quartet, currently in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo. Through this work, she explores not only the depth of the repertoire but also a more intimate search for sound, texture and musical storytelling. For her, chamber music is a living laboratory of listening, risk-taking and artistic exchange.

Since April 2026, Marie has had the privilege of performing on a 1714 Giovanni Battista Grancino violin. This extraordinary instrument has opened up an entirely new world of possibilities, inspiring her to explore a wider range of colors, textures and modes of expression. The experience of adapting to its unique voice continues to be a source of discovery, curiosity and artistic growth.
