Ivan Petrenko (2008) is a young Ukrainian pianist known for his brilliant artistry and deep musical sensibility. He began playing piano at 4.5 and made his debut at 7. At 11, he entered the Kyiv State Music Lyceum under Tetiana Abaieva and later, in 2022 joined the Davidsbündler Music Academy in The Hague, where he studies with Tetiana Abaieva and Borys Fedorov. Since 2025, he also has continued his professional musical education at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam with Nino Gvetadze.
A laureate of numerous international competitions, Ivan won the absolute First Prize at Kharkiv Meets Zurich, received a special award at the Chopin Competition in Szafarnia (Poland), gained First prize at Enschede International Piano Competition, First prize at Fujairah International Piano Competition and earned Second Prize at the Schumann Competition in Düsseldorf. He also holds First Prize at Merci, Maestro! (Belgium) and Second Prize at the Netherlands’ Rijnmond Muziekprijs 2023. Ivan has performed three times at the Concertgebouw during the “Davidsbündler Feest” festival and has collaborated in side-by-side chamber projects with renowned musicians such as Nicholas Schwartz, Benedict Kloeckner, Clémence de Forceville, Georgy Kovalev, Quirine Viersen, Tim Posner and Alexander Warenberg. His solo recital appearances include the Chopin Festival in Leiden, the Young Virtuosos cycle in Ljubljana, the Vere Music Hub in Kyiv and many others. As a soloist, he has performed with the Britten Youth Orchestra, Amsterdam Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra, Kyiv Camerata, Heemsteeds Philharmonisch Orkest, and Collegium Musicum Orchestra. Ivan appeared with the solo performance and orchestra at the Klassiek op het Amstelveld Festival. Ivan also took part in the 2023 RCO Young project with concerts in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and Berlin’s Konzerthaus, and appeared from TV programme Podium Klassiek to the Amsterdam Piano Duo Festival. His artistic ascent continues to attract international attention.
