Hyunjin Cho

Hyunjin Cho is a classical violinist of Korean origin. She was born in Japan in 2000, where she started to play the violin at the age of four years old.

In 2023, Hyunjin Cho graduated from the Faculty of Music at Toho Gakuen School of Music, majoring in violin. She studied violin under Isako Shinozaki, Akiko Tanaka, and Asako Yoshikawa. She went on to graduate with excellent results from her master’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, studying under Tjeerd Top and Peter Brunt. She was awarded the Munetsugu Angel Fund / Japan Federation of Musicians Scholarship for 2022 to 2024.

In 2026, she was selected as an academist with Amsterdam Sinfonietta. As of 2026, she is active as a chamber musician and orchestral player, based in both Amsterdam and Tokyo.

Her competition achievements include 2nd prize at the National Finals of the 71st Student Music Concours of Japan (2017), winner at the 27th Japan Classical Music Competition, leading to a concerto performance with orchestra, category winner in Strings at the 15th Osaka International Music Competition (espoir prize), and 1st prize in the Cecilia International Music Competition (9th, 10th, and 11th editions). In 2015, she was invited to perform at the Gala Concert of the Piediluco International Music Festival in Italy, with all seminar fees waived, and in 2018, she performed at a gala concert at Carnegie Hall in New York.

In chamber music, she has studied with Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Iku Miwa, Kazuhide Isomura, Kikuei Ikeda, Akira Mizutani, Nobuko Yamazaki, and Dmitry Ferschtman. In 2023, she took part in the Music Masters Course Japan, a quartet academy. As first violinist of her string quartet, she went on to win 1st prize and the Jury Chairman’s Award at the 16th Cecilia International Music Competition (Tokyo), and in 2026, the quartet both the 1st prize and the Jongerenjuryprijs (Youth Jury Prize) at the Storioni Festival Concours (Eindhoven).

She plays a 1732 Italian violin by Gregorio Antoniazzi. Her bow, made by Louis Henry Gillet, is generously provided by the Dutch Music Instruments Foundation.
