Dagmar Korbar

My name is Dagmar Korbar (1999) and I am a violist. I was born in Zagreb into a musical family and began to play the viola at the age of 5 as the youngest violist in Croatia.

I was born in Zagreb into a musical family and began to play the viola at the age of 5 as the youngest violist in Croatia. When I was 13 years old, I began my studies at the Academy of Music, Zagreb University. After my graduation in Zagreb, I came to study with Marjolein Dispa and Nobuko Imai at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

During my studies, I fell in love with Amsterdam and the Netherlands and decided I wanted to stay and work here.

That wish came true as I, in July 2021, won the position of the Principal Viola of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. There, I am lucky to enjoy playing beautiful symphonic repertoire as well all the opera masterpieces.

Besides that, I regularly participate on festivals such as: Grachtenfestival, Mozartfest, :alpenarte, Delft Chamber Music Festival, Ostinato Chamber Music Festival and others.

Thanks to Het Muziekinstrumentenfonds I have a chance to play with a wonderful bow (1975) by Daniël Ter Berg.
