Refugee Campaign
2027

The wars currently raging around the world are creating countless refugees, including those fleeing to the Netherlands. Among these refugees are professional musicians and music students. Thanks to the initiative of the Musical Instrument Fund, they can continue to play on donated instruments.

Project

Let refugees continue playing

Musicians fleeing their homes often had to leave their instruments behind. Once in the Netherlands, they are displaced, stressed, and traumatized. A roof over their heads, food, access to medical care, education for their children, peace, and a sense of routine—these are their top priorities.

Making music can help them take their minds off things for a while. By providing them with the instrument they’re missing, we give them an incredibly important source of support.

The Musical Instrument Fund therefore connects donors of instruments with refugees who have settled in the Netherlands and would like to focus on making music again, either together or on their own.

Help by making a donation

Thank you for your willingness to contribute financially to the “Doorspelen” project. Your donation is a huge help to us with organization, logistics, restoration work, and all kinds of expenses.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed to this project since 2022. Thanks to the support of our donors, we have already delivered more than 120 instruments to refugees representing some 20 different nationalities!

To help even more refugees in the coming year, we could really use your help again. Thank you very much!

Would you rather donate an instrument?

Do you have an instrument you’d like to donate to a refugee who plays music? If so, we’d love to hear from you! Fortunately, we’ve already received many instruments, ranging from electric guitars and saxophones to accordions and ouds. For some instruments, it’s more difficult to find the perfect match with a refugee. Project leader Ben Cartens would be happy to tell you more about it.
