It is extraordinary to be able to play on one of the rarest bows made in the history of bow making, with immense craftsmanship. This allows to search for further musical expression and endless possibilities. Having received praises from numerous newspapers including the Time Argus, the Hamilton Spectator, the Toronto Star, De Niewe Muze, Bruno stands out as a promising cellist. A prize winner of the MSO Manulife Competition 2016, the International Stepping Stone Canadian Music Competition 2017, the Prix d’Europe 2023, the Amsterdam Biennale Competition 2024, he performed in numerous concert halls such as the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, the Helsinki Music Center, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Jubile Hall in the United Kingdom, Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center in the United States, and most concert halls in Canada. Bruno has recorded in Toronto’s Koerner Hall with music producer Theresa Leonard and pianist Jean-Luc Therrien. He has also collaborated with Carlos Miguel Prieto, Jac van Steen, Sivan Magen, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Giora Schmidt, Jinjoo Cho, Timothy Chooi, Barry Shiffman, Glen Montgomery, Peter Wiley and many more.
Bruno is a regular performer at the Montreal Chamber Music Festival and the Musica Camerata Montreal society. He was guest associate principal cello and 1st assistant cello in 2018 and 2019 for concerts in the Montreal Symphony’s ‘Virée Classique’, with Kent Nagano. He has been invited guest principal cello with the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, Phion Orkest and Sinfonia Rotterdam. He is now Principal Cello with the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest.
A graduate student of the ‘Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal’, Bruno has spent 6 years studying in the class of Denis Brott. He has played in masterclasses for Johannes Moser, Steven Isserlis, Jean Guihen Queyras, Alisa Weilerstein and Mischa Maisky. Bruno is an alumni of the 2017 New York String Seminar Orchestra and has been mentored by cellists Julie Trudeau and Bryan Epperson.
In 2019, Bruno was appointed professor of cello at the ‘Préconservatoire de Musique de Montréal’. Since 2021, he has been on the artist roster of the Rebanks Family Fellowship and International Performance Residency Program at the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) in Toronto.
Recent events have included performances at the Storioni Festival and the Aurora Festival.
Bruno holds a Masters degree at the Royal Conservatoire of the Hague, in the class of Michel Strauss and Jan Ype Nota. He is a recipient of the Sylva Gelber Music Foundation and is grateful for their generous help and trust in his work.
