Mateo Viscarra

grand piano

I am a Bolivian pianist currently pursuing my Master’s degree at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Zwolle, where I study with the Dutch pianist Frank van de Laar. Alongside my studies, I have been working since 2023 as a piano teacher at the Pianoforte Muziekschool in Ommen.

My musical journey began at the Gnesin School in Moscow, where I first fell in love with the piano. I later spent a year at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, studying with the Russian pianist Slava Poprugin.

Throughout the years, I have had the opportunity to work with many inspiring musicians around the world. I attended masterclasses at the Manhattan School of Music in the United States with Alexander Moutouzkine, and I was invited to perform at the International Holland Music Sessions, where I worked with Vitaly Pisarenko. I have also learned from musicians such as David Kuyken, Eldar Nebolsin, Filipe Pinto Ribeiro, and Katya Apekisheva.

I have performed in important venues such as TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht, Odeon Theater in Zwolle, Wilminktheater in Enschede, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, De Harmonie in Leeuwarden, and Theater De Vest in Alkmaar, among others.

Chamber music is a big part of my musical life. I am a member of Duo Delta Scuti, with which I won a third prize in chamber music at the Verão Clássico 2023 festival in Lisbon. In addition, I am part of the Meliora Trio. I enjoy exploring different kinds of collaborations, including interdisciplinary projects that connect music with other art forms.

In 2025, I participated in the IHMS Festival in the Netherlands, and I have previously performed at festivals such as CityProms in Leeuwarden and the Dudok Festival in Kampen.

I currently perform on a grand piano generously provided by the Netherlands Music Instrument Fund (NMF): a Feurich 197 from Berlin (1992).

I am passionate about sharing music with others and constantly look for new ways to expand my artistic horizon. My curiosity and openness to collaboration shape me as a musician, both as a soloist and in ensemble settings.
