My name is Lidy Blijdorp, and I’m a cellist. What I enjoy most about making music is exploring new colors and atmospheres to transport the listener to another world. A good instrument is crucial for this, which is why I’m incredibly grateful to the Musical Instrument Fund.
Since May 2016, I have been playing Anner Bylsma’s Farotti cello. I am so happy to have had the opportunity to get to know this beautiful instrument; it is a tremendous source of inspiration. The spaciousness and joyful character that were present in Anner Bylsma’s playing still resonate in the instrument. Since 2024, I’ve also been loaned a Persoit bow, which brings out all the instrument’s qualities.
Below is a video where you can hear the cello. I’m playing Bloch and Haydn with the Residentie Orkest. For more information and concert dates, please visit my website.
