Jiska ter Bals

violin

Hello, I’m Jiska, and since 2003 I’ve been playing a beautiful 1719 Bouquay violin that I’m absolutely thrilled with. I still enjoy the violin’s beautiful sound every day.

The violin really shines in all kinds of places and in all kinds of ensembles. I love music, in all its forms and styles. I play in unusual venues, such as old warehouses; on a large raft on the water; in a refugee camp; at a retirement home; at pop venues; or in an advertising studio. But of course, I also really enjoy playing in beautiful concert halls. I play in unconventional ensembles featuring, for example, accordions and strings. As a violinist, I’m regularly invited to perform with established world music ensembles, such as the Shtetl Band Amsterdam or Mazzeltov. I also play in orchestras such as the Nieuwe Philharmonie Utrecht, or with Mike Fentross, the Luthers Bach Ensemble, and Sinfonia Rotterdam. I also enjoy recording violin parts in studios.
