Anna Martirosian
violin, violin bow
My name is Anna Martirosian (2003), and I’ve started doing something I’ve always wanted to do: play the violin, get to know its sound deeply, and immerse myself in it. Thanks to this, I have the privilege and pleasure of receiving a beautiful Möller violin from the Musical Instrument Fund, for which I am very grateful!
Ever since I went with my mother to the Schouwburg in Deventer when I was nine to try out all kinds of instruments, it was only the violin that caught my attention. Its elegance, classical charm, and the beauty of its sound had convinced me to give it a try. A few months later, I had my first violin lesson, and I knew right away that I wanted to pursue a career in violin.
I’m currently studying at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Zwolle with Annechien van Blom. Since then, my love and passion for the violin have grown stronger than ever. Of course, I’d already enjoyed playing the violin immensely before that, but I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do with it, even though my gut feeling told me to keep going. I’ve recently participated in various competitions, and since my first year at the conservatory, I’ve taken part in the Gelre Chamber Music Competition as a violin duo with Menno Verloop; thanks to the prize we won, we were invited to a masterclass with Liza Ferschtman, which was an amazing experience! At that time, I was also in the process of finding a violin that was just right for me. A stunning 1931 Möller from the Muziekinstrumentenfonds is like a gift to me—something that allows me to reach my full potential and continue to develop my skills for the many opportunities that lie ahead!
