Wie ben ik?

I began studying cello with Claude Starke in Zurich, and subsequently studied Bryan Epperson at the Glenn Gould School in Toronto. I am currently in the first year of my Master’s at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, where I am studying with Michel Strauss and Jan Ype Nota. I won the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition in 2009, and performed the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto with them the same year. In 2012, I won the Guleph Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, playing the Shostakovich Cello Concerto. In April of 2013, I performed the Rococo Variations with the Guelph Symphony Orchestra. In the summers of 2013 and 2014 I studied at the Aspen Music Festival with Richard Aaron, having received the orchestral fellowship. I attended the Orford Summer Music Academy for four years, where I studied with Laurence Lesser and Michel Strauss. I also attended Domaine Forget, where I studied with Steven Doane and Emanuelle Bertrand. I have participated in additional masterclasses from such cellists as Mischa Maisky, Desmond Hoebig, Colin Carr and Anner Bylsma.

I have been in possession of an instrument from NMF since 2014. I am deeply grateful for the instrument. It has opened up possibilites for projection which simply were not possible on my previous instrument. It has enabled me to climb to a different level of playing. I think the service NMF offers students studying in Holland is a unique and extremely valuable one.
